“David and I officially met back in 2014 during our freshman year at The Prairie View A&M University. Being that we both majored in electrical engineering, we were both enrolled in an intro to electrical engineering lab where we didn’t say a single word to each other! After the semester was over, we ironically went years without having classes together again and somehow never crossed paths on campus. Fast forward to 2017, our love story finally began with David simply eavesdropping on a group conversation about love languages. A friend asked if I would rather PDA or a gift, and I simply answered “a gift” since physical touch is at the bottom of the list for me. David abruptly called me a gold digger (which I’m not) because of this and luckily for him I gave up cursing for Lent! Long story short, I let him make it that day, which allowed for him to have the confidence a week later to ask me for my number by eavesdropping, yet again, on a conversation around corny pick-up lines. After having to listen/witness one of our classmates try to hit on me, David rolled his lab chair over and simply asked “Do you play games?” I replied “No, I don’t play games” and in David’s fashion he quickly came back with “I like that!” I couldn’t stop laughing and couldn’t deny him my number when he asked. After class, I quickly got a text from David of Connect Four and immediately replied, “I told you I don’t play games.” Yet again David quickly responded, “You’re gonna play games with me” and we have been connected ever since! We are now newlyweds (married July 3rd, 2021), homeowners, co-workers, and I am also a current MBA candidate at PVAMU!”
