“The Mama’s Den” Podcast Hits the Road With a Girls Trip at Yaamava Resort & Casino

“The Mama’s Den” getaway at Yaamava Resort & Casino

“The Mama’s Den” podcast extended their mother’s day celebration an extra weekend by hosting an epic girls getaway at the Yaamava Resort & Casino. Hosts Melanie Fiona, Codie Elaine Oliver, Felicia LaTour, and Ashley Chea let their hair down and enjoyed luxury resort accommodations, award-winning dining, and more at one of the No. 1 entertainment destination in Southern California, just 60 miles east of downtown L.A.

The mamas invited 12 of their sister-friends to join them at Yaamava, which is a AAA 4-Diamond rated property that offers premium casino gaming, live performances from iconic artists, and a world-class spa. “It was important to us to take time and space for sisterhood because “The Mama’s Den” is as much about these 11 children that we have as it is about finding time to recharge and get together for ourselves,” Codie says in the episode, which is available to listen to now on all platforms and watch on Black Love’s YouTube channel

Melanie started the trip off as a winner, explaining that she hit the jackpot at the casino on the very first night. Talk about good luck! The singer, who normally doesn’t gamble, credits co-host Felicia for persuading her to play Wheel of Fortune at the casino.

“I won money, yall!” the singer says. “I don’t gamble, which is crazy. Literally, I had no idea what I was doing. But God said you’re a winner today, baby. You’re winning every day, but today you’re gonna win some cash. So that was my favorite part.”

“I liked the spa. It’s really, really beautiful,” Melanie adds, referencing Yaamava’s Serrano Spa, which includes seven private treatment rooms, sauna, steam, indoor water sanctuary, tranquility lounge, and a peaceful outdoor terrace. Guests can enjoy a wide range of services at the spa such as massage therapy, facials, body treatments, and hair and nail services.

Further along in the episode, Codie gushes about the getaway at Yaamava, saying how much she loved being able to bring 12 of the mamas’ friends together to “fellowship with us.”

“It was important to me that everyone who didn’t know each other had an opportunity to meet and just share one thing we could do to support each other,” Codie says about the close connection and love between the ladies. “I think that is kind of what I love about our space that we’ve created. Anytime I get together with Mamas, and Black women in particular, where we are able to find ways to elevate each other’s voices and pour back into folk.”

Melanie, who reveals in the episode that she’s never been on a girls trip, says that her getaway with “The Mama’s Den” was special compared to the frequent traveling she has to do for work.

“I’ll say this in all the years and in all the travels that I’ve done, I’ve never had a girls trip,” the singer shares. “It’s just never been a thing. A lot of my friends live in different cities. I’m friends with various groups of people. So I will say, it’s crazy at this point in my life to have a girl crew. A girl crew that I see every week that I hang with. We actually get along and love each other.”

Felicia echoes her co-hosts sentiments, saying that, although she is a co-parent and is missing her kids on her scheduled week, she’s happy to be with her girls.

“There should be no reason why moms — women — are doing everything,” the content creator says. “It literally doesn’t make sense to me. Now that [my co-parent and I] are in a space of ‘you get the kids on this week; I get the kids on this week,’ it gives me a week to just be Felicia.”

“The Mama’s Den” hosts have taken their special brand of sisterhood, support, and uplift on the road at the Yaamava Resort & Casino.
