Becoming a parent while still in high school isn’t what most teenagers aspire to. Neil Brown, Jr. who became a dad at 17 years old and he describes knowing he was far too young. That didn’t stop him from stepping up in the best ways he knew how at such a young age. He and his high school sweetheart Catrina, his wife and the mother of their two boys, Ethan (21) and Bishop (23), matured through partnership and parenthood. As many fathers aspire, making sure your children have a life with opportunities, access, and resources they may not have had becomes a focal point in their parenting. So much so that Neil’s eldest son of two had no idea the moments that their family were at their most financially hurt, teaching a greater lesson that “your struggles are between you and God.”
