The year is coming to a close, which means we’re stepping into the holiday season. And although it feels like 2020 has simultaneously lasted for five years and also flown by in the blink of an eye, this holiday season will be different than what we remember. With the hope of brighter days ahead politically and socially, we here at Black Love are thinking of how to make this holiday season memorable for a special guy in your life. Whether it’s for an entry-level bae that has earned gift-giving privileges or a hardworking dad, here are 10 holiday gift ideas for men that you can add to your cart (in order of “you cool” to “I really love you”).

The Whiskey Connoisseur

A staple for any bar is a solid bottle of brown. Some prefer whiskey or bourbon, whereas others prefer cognac. Either way, if his preferred drink of choice is something brown on the rocks, try one of these Black-owned brands: Majesty Bourbon, Shadow Ridge, Greenwood Whiskey, or Uncle Nearest

Also, consider adding a good whiskey stone to complete the gift. While the solid ice cube can be a great compliment to any drink, a stainless steel whiskey ball that doesn’t alter the flavor is untouchable.

The Plant Daddy

More and more men are taking pride in their ability to sustain plant life, basking in the growth of their skills and their collection. If you’ve noticed him expressing an interest in flora, a subscription box from The Nice Plant will bring a new green friend to his door each month.

The Fragrance Savant

It often takes (expensive) trial and error for a man to find the go-to scents he’ll pull out for your special occasions. If your special guy is invested in his cologne collection and wants to expand, Scentbird provides a curated subscription service delivering a wide range of scents to your door based on his own fragrance preferences.

The Grill King

Does he have a smoker in the backyard? Spend hours perfecting his dry rub or marinade? Enjoy bragging about his grill skills at the slightest sign of competition? Your grill king relies on his tools to keep him at the top of his game. Consider getting him a personalized grilling tool set to show appreciation (and give him a reason to grill some holiday ribs).

The Runner

When fitness is his stress reliever, the music matters. AirPods are great, but if he’s looking for something that can go with him on long runs, he may need some new earphones. The Powerbeats Pro earphones wrap around the ear and, with the right fit, deliver more bass and playback than everyday AirPods. Plus if he forgets to charge them, a quick five-minute rest in the charging case will give him 90 minutes of stress-relieving music to accompany him on his run.

The Cigar Buff

Sometimes the smell of cigar smoke in your house indicates the end of a long day or an even longer week. If he can appreciate a good cigar, sign him up for a few months of Rare Cigar Club and he’ll receive four rare cigars each month that are limited production, from boutique manufacturers or just super-premium. You might help him find that rare cigar he’ll love to brag about.

The Bachelor Pad

If the guy you have in mind is in the process of aging out of his bachelor pad and into his grown man swag, cleaning might still be a pain point. A Roomba Robot Vacuum could be the perfect accessory to add to his life, scratching one more thing off of the “things I forget to do” list. It connects to Wi-Fi, charges itself, navigates around the big stuff, and cleans carpet and hard floors all the same. Be a blessing to a young brother and eliminate his need to vacuum.

The Gym Rat

We’ve made it to the end of the year and still find ourselves on the edge lockdown in many places across the country. This can take a huge toll on the gym-goer who unwinds at the gym or was this close to reaching his fitness goals (or not). Small, versatile equipment can be very helpful to have around the house for workout sessions. If he could use new speed ropes or resistance bands to workout with, Performance Tempel is the Black-woman-owned brand for him. If he’s looking for dumbbells, the Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells go from 5 to 52.5 lbs and give him a rack of weights in one set of dumbbells.

The Gamer

Unless you’re living under a rock (or just don’t play video games), you’ve heard about the recent release of the Playstation 5 – the most recent development out of Sony adding to its roster of gaming devices. The release has sparked a lot of excitement in the gaming community and has many on the edge of their seat, waiting in line for their very own. If you’re willing to do the legwork to land him a PS5 this holiday season, you won’t be the only one. CNET has compiled a list of retailers you can check with as we get closer to Black Friday to see when and if the console will be available for purchase. Best of luck!

At the very top of the price range on this list of the top holiday gifts for him is the gift for someone you love deeply and also want to remind that Valentine’s Day is coming up sooner than he thinks. The paper-thin LG 4K OLED CX TV will set new expectations for picture quality, has built-in Alexa and Google Assistant, and as an extra perk — a motion-tracking remote. Perfect for gaming and what remains of professional sports, this television is #goals.

Lists aside, make sure this holiday season is filled with incredible memories and find creative ways to bring more Black love into your life and the lives of the ones you love. Let’s spend time pouring into one another and ourselves as we close out 2020.
