With an enviable resume that includes past roles as the Chief Marketing Officer at Netflix, Chief Brand Officer at Uber, Head of Global Marketing for Beats by Dre, Apple Music and iTunes, Head of Music and Entertainment Marketing at PepsiCo., and Billboard’s Female Executive of the Year – oh and she’s also part of the American Marketing Association Hall of Fame — Boz is a boss  in every sense. Her impact is felt and seen through her innovative ideas, striking beauty, fierce fashions and unequivocal storytelling. 

“Not everything is explainable; some things are just instinctual,” says Saint John who is known for crafting brilliant strategies, yet she admittedly has no five or 10-year plan. Trusting her intuition and unwavering ability to figure it out as she goes is a major flex.

During a candid chat with hosts Codie Elaine Oliver, Melanie Fiona and Ashley Chea, the dynamic disruptor shared revelatory lessons she has gained from her over 20 years in corporate America; the death of her husband, Peter, and their first daughter, Eve; her entrepreneurial journey, and being Blackity Black while shaping Lael into the next Queen. 

“I love her, but more than love her, I like her as a person, and if she wasn’t my child, I would still want to be her friend,” says Saint John who encourages her mini-me to openly communicate. “I wasn’t put here to manage her. I was put here to help guide her in her own journey. … I’m not responsible for every single little thing that she’s supposed to learn.” 

Boz Opens Up About Love, Loss, and Rebuilding After Grief

An unexpected shift from wife to widow and single mom was one of many pivotal moments for Saint John who gave birth to Lael not long after losing Eve. That loss led to the breakdown of her marriage, yet the couple reconciled during Peter’s battle with cancer. The vulnerability in Boz’s tone is palpable as she reflects on her reluctance to bear children, their subsequent births, and her temporary reconnection with husband. 

“Given another shot at it, I would not do the same thing,” Saint John explains. “That’s what it taught me because the love I had for him was hidden under small, petty things. It was hidden underneath my own selfishness. I had to uncover all of that and recognize that and admit to it.”


Eleven years later, through grief and heartbreak, love has wiggled its way back into her heart with current bae, Keely Watson, whose entrance into her life was divine timing. As she prepared to launch her hair care line, Eve by Boz — which has ingredients imported from Ghana and South Africa — their love grew. This time around is different for her as he is not intimidated by who she is and what she represents. The TV personality shared with the ladies how Watson brings the clarity and maturity she deserves. Viewers of season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills got a glimpse of their relationship while watching Saint John’s debut on the show.

When asked how she juggles her multiple roles along with the pressure of the spotlight, Saint John was transparent about the isolation of being at the top of your game. 

I had to overcome and therefore be joyful in my days to become very comfortable with my loneliness,” she says. “People will assign descriptions to you or assign behaviors to you that are not yours, that you never display.”  Forgiving others’ misperceptions of her has liberated the multihyphenate and emboldened her self-love.
