After 21 Years As An Incarcerated Family, Fox & Rob are Celebrating 28 Years of Marriage and Partnership With A New Documentary

On April 24, 2025 Sibil Fox and Robert Richardson, known as “FoxandRob” celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary, free of jail cells and handcuffs.

Fox and Rob have been together for 38 years total and survived 21 of those years as an incarcerated family. They are excited to celebrate another year together and uplift their story of love and surviving the criminal justice system with their second documentary “Time II: Unfinished Business,” a follow up to the 2020 Oscar-nominated film TIME which introduced Fox and Rob, their epic love story, and the fight for Rob’s freedom.

When Rob met and fell in love with Fox, he desired nothing more than the American Dream: success, stability, and creating Black generational wealth for their growing family. The depth of this desire and the financial upheaval they faced one year made him desperate enough to attempt a bank robbery in order to regain financial solvency for the struggling business into which he had invested their life savings. After accepting responsibility as well as an 18-year plea deal, an overzealous District Attorney (DA) got Rob sentenced to 61 years in prison. Nevertheless, thanks to Rob’s newfound legal acumen and his wife Fox’s fiery advocacy campaign on his behalf, Rob was released in September of 2018 after being granted clemency by Governor John Bel Edwards. Since his release, Rob has earned his B.A. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and become a published author. He was also instrumental in the passage of groundbreaking legislation in Louisiana. Most importantly, he has devoted himself to making the most of every moment with his wife and six sons.

When asked how they kept their relationship intact while experiencing incarceration, Fox described being intentional about communication in marriage and moments with her husband Rob. She would always make sure that all significant dates were acknowledged when Rob was in jail. They were very intentional about their time spent together.

“Life is all about the moments that you can recall. It’s important to create moments that are memorable no matter what we have,” said Rob.

Rob recalled something he learned from a book he read called Making Love Last Forever. The book made a statement about relationships being similar to bank accounts.

“The objective is to place more deposits into the account instead of withdrawals,” said Rob. “Put more good into your relationship and plenty of deposits for when you go through tough times.”

Fox is an independent documentarian who first captivated audiences by telling her family’s story in the Garrett Bradley-led Oscar-nominated film TIME (2020). She is a skilled wordsmith, gifted orator, and natural-born storyteller. She and her husband Rob spent 21 years and 4 days fighting tooth and nail to secure Rob’s freedom from Angola prison, the largest and bloodiest prison in the United States. Throughout their arduous journey, her camera became her steadfast companion, ceaselessly capturing candid and vulnerable moments that laid bare the raw truth of her family’s existence.

Today, Fox is not just an author, advocate, and motivational speaker, but also a social entrepreneur with over three decades of experience shining a light on the dark corners of social injustice through her compelling documentaries. Her work serves as a powerful reminder that the fight for justice never ends and that the human spirit can prevail even in the face of unimaginable adversity. Fox is also an advocate for healthy Black relationships and Black marriage counseling.

The next chapter of their journey will be shared in Time II: Unfinished Business which will premiere on June 19, 2025 otherwise known as “Juneteenth” and will be live streamed on the Time II Movie website here. “It’s a movement for freedom,” said Fox. “On Juneteenth we are releasing this film all over the world. People will be able to purchase the film and own it in perpetuity and help to raise $1M for the Amistad Research Center for Black America. We need to ensure that we have the Amistad.”

Fox and Rob have a thirst for freedom and are dedicated to increasing the number of Black marriages across America. They pray this film will be a beacon of light for Black marriage and those who are still trapped in the pit holes of the U.S. criminal justice system.
