Anwar Carrots Blends Streetwear and Family With New Homegrown Collection

Anwar Carrots is making waves in the fashion world with the launch of his newest collaboration with Walmart: the Homegrown collection. Created by the visionary fashion designer and entrepreneur, Homegrown is a celebration of family, food, and the deep-rooted values that shape us. Designed with inclusivity and accessibility in mind, the collection is available in kid’s sizes and features hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts, jogger sweatpants and T-Shirts.

Known for his unique blend of streetwear aesthetics and cultural storytelling, Anwar drew inspiration for this collection from his love of farm-to-table living. To bring the Homegrown collection to life, he conceptualized and directed a visually stunning mini-documentary filmed on a farm in Goleta, CA, nestled in Santa Barbara County. Featuring Anwar, his wife, and their four children, the campaign beautifully captures the essence of family, community, and sustainability—the core themes behind this collection.

With prices ranging from $9.98 to $21.98, these items are not just stylish but also affordable, staying true to Walmart and Carrots’ commitment to making fashion accessible to all. Black Love sat down with Anwar to chat about the new collection, which is now available online and at 1,000 Walmart locations nationwide.

Black Love: How did you first get involved in fashion?

Anwar Carrots: My first involvement in fashion would be my first official job working retail at Rogue Status which was based in Venice at the time and owned by Travis Barker and Rob Dyrdek founded by Johan Esbensen RIP but prior to that modeling for Stussy in 2006. Solely as an eponymous brand, Puma gave me my first global look back in 2014.

BL: Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind the Homegrown collection?

AC: A lot of my inspiration comes from elements of life I’d like to incorporate into my own. With Carrots, I’ve always been drawn to the juxtaposition of farming and fashion. For Walmart, I leaned into the homestead concept—the idea that everything you need can be found in your own backyard. That mindset ties in perfectly with both my personal aesthetic and Walmart’s essence, as I see Walmart as the go-to place for everything you need for your home. On a personal note, I’ve always envisioned a homestead lifestyle for myself and my family, so this collaboration felt like the perfect manifestation moment!

BL: What was it like to direct a documentary with your family? What was your kids and wife’s reaction to the shoot and the film?

AC: Documenting and archiving have been part of my life from day one, so being able to involve my family in everything I do is truly a dream come true. It can definitely be a challenge juggling all the different needs and emotions, but we always get the job done no matter what! At the end of the day, my kids get to have these amazing visuals that include them, and they love seeing themselves in photos and videos. Honestly, they’re always camera-ready [laughs]! As for my wife, she loves the end results after all the work and time it takes to manage these four amazing creatures!

BL: How do you want consumers to feel when they’re wearing your clothes?

AC: I want consumers to feel like they’ve been a part of Carrots’ growth from an aspirational standpoint. For those just discovering the brand, I want them to feel seen, like they’re putting that shit on while keeping it affordable for themselves and their families—if they have kids. Ultimately, I just want them to feel good knowing they’re rocking a brand that represents the culture with substance and wholesomeness.

BL: What is your favorite piece from the Homegrown collection and why?

AC: Every piece is my favorite. No matter what you choose, you can mix and match almost everything in the collection, and it all works together harmoniously. That’s been intentional since I sprouted out of the ground in 2015.

AC: From here, I’d love to be best friends with Walmart! I have big hopes and dreams of doing more of these releases and exploring all the possibilities that can come from Walmart’s ecosystem and product range. Beyond that, I’m focused on steady growth, creating more products, and continuously learning and adapting as the years go by and life keeps evolving. Forever a student.
