Briana Barner
Briana Barner is a media studies instructor and doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests include new media, critical media studies and Black feminism. She's a proud native of the Southside of Chicago, in which she left to attend Bennett College, a historically Black college for women where she graduated with dual degrees in Journalism and Media Studies, and Africana Women's Studies. Briana is also a graduate of the Center for Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Texas, where she wrote an award-winning master's thesis on the power of the #BlackGirlMagic hashtag. Along with sprinkling #BlackGirlMagic everywhere she goes in her professional career, she's also a wife and loving mother of her son, Harlem, with a baby girl on the way!
