The magic of fatherhood is beautifully captured in Black Love’s Father Noir series, and this year, singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger takes center stage. Created by Black Love founder Tommy Oliver, Father Noir is a visual memoir that celebrates Black fatherhood through stunning black and white imagery and heartwarming videos.
Eric Bellinger, a devoted father to his two sons, Elysha (Ely) and Eazy Bellinger, with his wife, actress and singer La’Myia Good, is a perfect fit for this celebration. Known for his smooth R&B hits and soulful voice, Eric brings the same passion and dedication to fatherhood as he does to his music. With a career that boasts collaborations with industry giants like Usher, Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber, Eric’s love for his family remains the highlight of his life.
In Father Noir, available to watch on Black Love’s social media channels, Eric opens up about the joys and challenges of raising his boys. He reflects on the pride he feels watching Ely and Eazy as they grow older: “[My favorite thing] is watching them grow in different phases. Seeing them as babies and then watching them grow. Watching them go from a waddle to a crawl to the first steps until now — playing sports, playing basketball. It’s the proudest thing ever, I think, in my life. [My] biggest accomplishment [is] raising these two young kings.”

Father Noir: Fatherhood is What You Do
Balancing a successful music career and fatherhood is no easy feat, and Eric candidly discusses the difficulties of time management. The “New Flame” songwriter says that the hardest part about fatherhood is “balance.”
“I know I need to provide,” Eric explains. “I know I need to make sure everything is taken care of, but there’s nothing like spending time [with your family]. It’s nothing like going to the park, playing basketball, playing video games, playing on the iPads. So just trying to make sure that they always feel my presence. Even if I got to be away, I want them to still feel like daddy’s home.”
Eric also shares his advice for other fathers, emphasizing the importance of being present and patient. He stresses that “no matter what, you’re doing the best you can.”
“There’s no handbook out there,” he says. “A lot of times, we’re learning as we go. Don’t be too hard on yourself, but at the same time, just do your best. It’s going to take some patience. What I do recommend is being fully there. You got to let go. That’s the best way to truly enjoy the time. It’s just to be there. If they’re playing the game, have fun with the game too, instead of just playing the game with them. Actually try to get into it and enjoy it.”
Eric’s participation in Father Noir not only highlights his journey as a father but also underscores the broader message of the series: Black love is fatherhood. By sharing these intimate moments, Father Noir continues to redefine the narrative around Black families, celebrating the strength, love, and dedication that Black fathers bring to their children’s lives.
As we watch Eric Bellinger nurture his two “young kings,” we are reminded of the beauty of fatherhood and the impact of visibility in shaping positive narratives. Check out Black Love’s Instagram and TikTok for more Father Noir content!
