When I was three-years-old, my mom switched careers and enrolled in cosmetology school. She had worked in Corporate America for years, but she had the urge to be more creative. I look back on this with a smile on my face because this is the exact reason why I started blogging over 10 years ago. Much like her, I needed a creative outlet. I don’t remember when I wasn’t going to the salon with her. I would spend afternoons after school and weekends helping sweep, wash out color foils, fold towels, and read every Hype Hair magazine. My mom has been my hairdresser for the most important occasions in my life, from senior prom to law school graduation to my wedding.
Witnessing my mom transform so many women was so inspiring. During this time, I developed my love for all things beauty. Not only did I get my love of beauty from watching her, but she always took the time to preach the importance of having healthy hair. It’s what sparked my idea to start my blog 10 years ago, and two years ago, I was inspired to create a haircare line. As a content creator, I have enjoyed working with many hair care brands and trying thousands of products. Although I found many great products, nothing was ever a perfect fit.

From visiting my mom in the salon, I always remember the lack of premium haircare brands focused on textured hair care. Many times, there were no brands or only one available. As a woman of color with diverse clientele, this often limited product options for my mom’s clients. The industry has evolved a lot, but there is still room for luxury brands that focus on all hair textures. I love luxury and premium beauty products, but I also love my beauty routines to be effortless. I wanted a brand that could encompass these dualities.

I shared my dream of starting a line with my husband for years. Once the pandemic hit and we spent much more time at home, my husband urged me to make my dream a reality. He worked along with me to get the ball rolling. Telling my mom I was working to start a hair care line was such a memorable experience. I used her as a sounding board for everything, ingredients, packaging, marketing, branding, etc. My mom is such a creative and has a great eye. From this, Isaline Beauty was born. I wanted a brand name of French origin since both my mom and my names are French. The name is a subtle way to honor both of us while letting the brand stand on its own. I love that this brand has my mom’s DNA in it.

Our first product, the Hair Treatment Masque, is our hero product. I always deep-condition my hair weekly to keep it as healthy and hydrated as possible. I knew our hero product had to be a hair mask that every woman would reach for. I feel like this hero product is a callback to my mom teaching me how to take care of my hair. I want our products to seamlessly fit into your routine and help your wash day feel like a pampering session. As we all know, self-care is so important! Further, it is crucial for our products to be as clean as possible. Our Hair Treatment Masque is vegan, cruelty-free, and clean.
Isaline Beauty is available now.
