Her Perspective: I was going through a season of God restoring my joy after a toxic situation. I constantly prayed about what I wanted my future to look like. One day, I was walking on the promenade leaving class and I saw this fine brother about to walk past me. He had on a navy blue suit and carried a briefcase as if he was a professor. Usually, when I see a cute guy, I’ll say something like, “Oh he’s real cute” and go on about my day. In this instance, I immediately started talking to God about what I saw! In my mind, I’m like, “God, please let my future husband dress and look like that! He looks like he owns this campus.” Little did I know I manifested my husband in that moment. We somehow connected on IG and exchanged likes until one day he finally slid in the DM!!
His Perspective: A good friend of mine was on an eBoard and made a scrapbook of all of the members. I saw her photo in the book with her IG handle and immediately followed her. We exchanged likes for a while until I finally had the courage to speak to her. During the time, Sarahah was a popular anonymous messenger app and her link was in her bio. So I sent a message saying “I have a huge crush on you. You are so beautiful!” She posted a screenshot of the message to her IG story and asked who sent it to her. I slid in the DM quickly before someone else tried to claim they sent it. I’m glad I took a leap of faith and sent the message. I found my forever sunshine.
We started dating fall 2017, engaged in 2021, and now we’re planning for our wedding in 2022.
