10 Date Night Ideas
Pottery Making
The first time I saw the movie Ghost, I was mesmerized by the pottery scene. It was loving and sensual, all the things that clay and water are not, but they made it sexy. A pottery class allows couples to mold something into a beautiful piece of art that can become part of their home. If it doesn’t turn out the best, there’s always room for laughter.
Paint and Sip
You don’t have to be Kara Walker or Kehinde Wiley to paint a portrait. The beauty of this activity is that it’s guided, so it doesn’t matter if it’s your first time picking up a paintbrush or not. Most paint and sip classes are BYOB, which allows you to set the mood with your favorite drink, next to the person you love. With a quick Google search, you can find a class near you and book it without hesitation. The biggest decision of the night is where does the painting goes once you’re done.
Wine/Spirit Tasting
Museums
If you’re still not sold on a paint and sip class, you can always attend a museum and look at other’s people’s art together. Stroll through the hallways and debate each other on the artist’s intent. It’s giving Love Jones or Brown Sugar – after they proposed their love for each other.

Cooking Class
Some say a meal is a key to their heart. I agree. Who has turned down a plate that will make you rethink your entire existence? I’ll wait.
Whether you are an avid user of Uber Eats, a good cook, or a home chef, cooking classes are a great way to test your skills and try something new. Perhaps you try a class with a cuisine neither one of you has made, but excited to learn. There’s something very satisfying the first time you make pasta from scratch. Before you put down the idea because you’re not sure where to find a cooking class, it’s easier than you think. If Groupon is good enough for Tiffany Haddish, then it’s good enough for us.
Picnics
Picnics are underrated. It provides the opportunity to be still and enjoy each other’s company, especially in scenic surroundings. All you need is a great blanket, pillows if you prefer, and some of your favorite foods. If you’re looking to take it up a notch, hire a professional to create a luxe picnic design that you and your honey can enjoy in style.
Shooting Range
Date nights don’t have to be boring. If you’re looking for some adventure, look no further than a shooting range. I know guns can be scary, but for some, they’re liberating. Friendly competition to see who can land more shots on the target is a great way to spice things up.
Laser Tag
Laser tag is an alternative to the shooting range. It allows you to be more active with the goal of not getting caught. Adults at play aren’t only for the bedroom. Tap into your inner child, strap on your gear, and enter the arena.
Roller Skating
Roller skating is not my ministry, but I do admire others who have conquered the rink. I love watching couples skating together and moving in sync to the beat. That is why this makes this list for date night. If you are new to skating or have not tried since childhood, use your partner as an anchor and take it slow. You can take turns rubbing each other down with Bengay later. Now, that’s hot (and cool).
Day Trips
One of my favorite date nights happens during the day. I love taking day trips to towns I’ve never been to, shopping at the local markets, and discovering a new cafe. You can plan the trip together or surprise your partner with an adventure. I enjoy being on the road and talking on our way to our destination. Quality time together is my love language.
Make those reservations, and celebrate your love. There’s no time like the present.
