Cadillac celebrated its 14th year as a sponsor at the 2024 American Black Film Festival with two performances that are sure to be remembered for years to come. The iconic car brand, with an exhilarating line of electric vehicles, helped bring phenomenal artists KIRBY and Lucky Daye to the stage for this year’s festival, and fans were delighted from beginning to end.

Lucky Daye dominated the stage at Cadillac Lounge during the Music in Motion event at The Fillmore Miami Beach on Thursday. The Grammy winner crooned many of his popular singles, including “Roll Some Mo,” “Over,” and “That’s You.”  Lucky Daye’s ABFF performance follows a whirlwind award season, where he was nominated for Album of the Year for both Beyoncé’s Renaissance and Mary J. Blige’s “Good Morning Gorgeous” albums as a co-writer.

According to Nicole Friday of NICE CROWD, “Cadillac’s lounge at ABFF was a vibrant hub where innovation met culture, showcasing their cutting-edge vehicles alongside a celebration of diverse artistic expressions.”

Cadillac continued its festivities on Friday with a special performance from KIRBY. The R&B singer, originally from Mississippi, performed some of her biggest hits, including “We Don’t Funk,” “Black Leaves,” and “Kool Aid.” She also sang her hit song, “Loved By You,” which went viral on TikTok in March, eight years after its initial release. In a memorable moment, KIRBY created a song on the spot paying homage to Cadillac’s iconic place in culture.

“This was a dynamic and beautifully designed way to celebrate the confluence of creativity between Black filmmaking and Black music,” shared host Alex Tyree, the founder of Feel the SPACE, the music community behind the curation of the two-night event. “Lucky and KIRBY’s inspired performances charged the lounge filled with Black creatives with a boldness that Cadillac also represents today.”

Cadillac’s musical performances at ABFF follow a week full of activations, panels, and activities at The Cadillac Lounge. The company sponsored a breakfast conversation about pursuing — and achieving — your dreams with world traveler Jessica Nabongo on the heels of joining Cadillac in Paris for the OPTIQ reveal and a discussion on Black art with the founders of Art Melanated, Sol Aponte and Jennia Fredrique Aponte, and Dawn Limerick, founder and president of The Greenwood Standard.

In addition to the panel discussions, Cadillac also hosted two live recordings of media personality Demetria L. Lucas’ podcast, “Ratchet & Respectable,” with special guests Nabongo and “P-Valley” star Nicco Annan, actor Lamman Rucker, media personality Scott Evans, wine negociant Ingrid Best and offered ride-and-drive experiences for its vehicles all-electric LYRIQ and Escalade and XT4.

Juanita Slappy, Head of Multicultural Marketing at Cadillac, said the company aimed to present “cinematically inspired experiences at the festival,” including “conversations with cultural thought leaders and innovators; two incredible live performances celebrating Black Music Month; live podcast recordings” and showcasing “our electric vehicle lineup including LYRIQ test drives.”

These experiences highlighted “Cadillac’s authentic connection to culture and the innovative spirit of our electric vehicles,” Slappy added.

Cadillac has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to engaging with vibrant artists and creatives at ABFF since it began sponsoring the festival in 2010. The brand’s innovative vehicles displayed at the festival offer a glimpse into Cadillac’s cutting-edge technology and premium features, and its ongoing presence at ABFF underscores its steadfast support for artistic variety.
