The Hamilton Howell House in Atlanta, Georgia
The Hamilton Howell House is a bed and breakfast with a lot of history. It was built by the leading Black contractor in Atlanta, Alex Hamiliton Jr, in 1893. The Howell/YoungBlood family restored the house, and now guests can reserve rooms named after different Black cultural icons like W.E.B. Dubois, Elizbeth Catlett, Maya Angelou, and John Coltrane. It has a rustic down home feel that’s perfect for relaxation.
Maison Dupuy in New Orleans, Louisiana
This New Orleans hotel is just two blocks from Bourbon Street and is located in a quiet residential section of the French Quarter. The Maison Dupuy is the perfect summer escape. It’s another hotel that’s within walking distance from all of New Orleans’ popular attractions.
