Honoring Queer Black Pioneers Fighting for Justice

According to a recent study done by the Williams Institute, an estimated 1.2 million adults in the U.S. identify as Black and LGBT. Researchers additionally found that Black LGBT people fare worse than their non-LGBT counterparts in many measures of economic and social vulnerability, including employment, income level, food insecurity, and healthcare access. In addition, Black LGBT adults face disparities in mental and physical health, such as depression, asthma, and disability. Our people are often the most vulnerable and unprotected in every space that we take up, which is why #PrideMont is a time to honor Black change-makers in the LGBTQIA+ community with their flowers for the work they’re doing day in and day out. For everything you do, we see you, we love you, and we are grateful for your consistent contributions!
