Elle Olivia, a children’s wear brand focusing on Black girls up to age 5, is unveiling a groundbreaking partnership that promises to empower communities and inspire action. The children’s lifestyle brand is partnering with When We All Vote, a voter registration organization co-chaired by former First Lady Michelle Obama, to launch Her Future campaign.
Marty McDonald, the CEO and Founder of Elle Olivia, shared the announcement with a heartfelt message, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and collective action. The Her Future campaign features three designs for toddlers and an adult sweatshirt, promoting voter engagement and awareness about the stakes for our daughters if parents do not vote.
“Our little girls deserve a future full of endless possibilities, where they can dream big and be unapologetically themselves!” McDonald shared. “But to make that future a reality, we need to protect it. With the 2024 presidential election around the corner, we’re calling on you to join us in safeguarding the rights and opportunities for our daughters.”
“These sweatshirts are not just stylish—they’re a symbol of hope, strength, and unity,” McDonald added. “Let’s ensure our girls inherit a world where they can shine! Together, we can secure HER future.”
The seeds for this partnership were planted years ago when McDonald met Courtney Robinson, a passionate advocate for women and community leader. This connection was facilitated by Shawntee Reed, a close friend and supporter who has been instrumental in McDonald’s journey.
The official moment of inspiration struck this summer, however, when Vice President Kamala Harris announced her presidential campaign. Feeling energized, McDonald brainstormed ideas with angel investor and friend Felicia Mayo. The entrepreneur finalized the designs for Her Future and drafted messaging for the campaign.
“I knew it was time to activate,” she shared.

After creating the collection, McDonald reached out to Robinson, who successfully connected them with Michelle Obama’s team. The collaboration was a dream come true, allowing Elle Olivia to contribute 25% of the proceeds from sweatshirt sales directly to When We All Vote.
“I’m crying as I write this,” McDonald admitted, reflecting on the significance of launching the campaign on her grandmother’s 90th birthday. “I am living out her wildest dream with three kids, two businesses, a supportive husband and building things she would have never imagined.”
Pre-orders for the special line of sweatshirts are officially open from September 9 to 27. Elle Olivia is encouraging community members to support the collection by purchasing sweatshirts for themselves and their loved ones.
“This campaign means so much to my business, and with your help, we can meet our goals for When We All Vote and Elle Olivia,” McDonald urged. As the campaign takes flight, Elle Olivia aims to inspire parents to take action, ensuring that their voices—and the voices of their children—are heard in the upcoming elections.
